At the farewell dinner, BT Team Ellen sailors Nick Moloney and Dame Ellen MacArthur, both veteran Vendée Globe competitors, revealed to the audience what went through their minds as they prepared for the start of their races and what Josse would be going through that night.
Moloney recalled well-wishers had covered the floor of the foyer of his hotel with flowers on the morning of his departure.
