Poll: MP3 player king of commuter gadgets
But some still like the peace and quiet of tech-free travel…

The MP3 player has been named the most popular gadget for passing the time on the daily commute by silicon.com readers.

The latest silicon.com poll found 31 per cent of respondents feel listening to their music MP3s is the best way to get though the journey to work.

Perhaps surprisingly, the next most popular answer (30 per cent) was from people saying they don't use any gadget when they travel to work, suggesting people don't always need technology to pass the time.

Less surprisingly was that 18 per cent of people said they use their mobile phone on the commute, while 14 per cent use their trusty PDAs.

Trailing behind were portable video players (to catch up on last night's TV) and laptops, which gained just under three per cent of the vote each.

Handheld games consoles (such as the Sony's PSP) accounted for slightly less than two per cent of those polled.
