H is for HSDPA
HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access), as the name would suggest, is the high speed wireless internet standard that is competing with WiMax for use in various mobile devices. An HSDPA network can support download speeds of up to 1.4Mbps and gradual upgrades are expected to raise this to 10Mbps by 2008.
Such are the high speeds that HSDPA offers for mobile phones (four times standard 3G) it has been nicknamed 3.5G. The standard is seen as having the potential to fully exploit GPS and increase call capacity for mobile operators.
