Energis wins Ernst & Young network contract

NEWS Energis has won a £10m contract to provide a voice and data network for Ernst & Young. The professional services company will replace its existing network with Energis' customnet virtual private network (VPN). It will manage voice traffic between the company's 25 offices. It said the main impetus behind the decision was an increased need to monitor telephone expenditure between sites. The regional offices will be linked to a national network using Energis' frameconnect, a Frame Relay network. Energis claimed this will enable Ernst & Young to upgrade from Frame Relay to ATM as demands on the network grow. However, up to three 2MB connections will be installed in the six offices which house the finance, business and taxation services, Internet and intranet, to cope with additional traffic.
