NEWS In the wake of Beny Alagem's resignation on Tuesday, Packard Bell NEC has named Alain Couder as its new CEO. Until Wednesday, Couder served as chief operating officer of Groupe Bull, the biggest French systems integration house and owner of a stake in Packard Bell. Many analysts believe Couder's experience in corporate computing indicates that the company is looking to move up market from its consumer base. Former CEO Alagem resigned citing differences with NEC shareholders, which analysts put down to the company's lack of success in cracking the commercial market.
