NEWS IT directors must start preparing to upgrade to Windows NT 5 now, according to Dr Simon Moores, chairman of the Windows NT forum. But he added that only a handful of companies are beginning preparations because they're tackling more pressing IT issues. Dr Moores went on to recommend products which allow network managers access to NT 4 domain settings centrally as the most painless way to upgrade to NT 5. Peapod Group has released a product which it claims is the first migration software package available for the NT environment. The company warned that leaving migration work until the last minute could be very time-consuming and expensive, taking around one hour per desktop.
