NEWS Sun Microsystems and Microsoft have both posted spectacular profits in their year end results. Microsoft announced an increase in revenue of 28 per cent and a profit of $4.5bn (£2.75bn). The company attributed its result to continued enthusiasm for Windows 95 and NT. Sun's earnings over the fiscal year were $906m (£553m) on sales of $9.8bn (£6bn). According to Sun CEO, Scott McNealy, the company's performance was due to a lack of credible rivals in the enterprise computing market.
