NEWS Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including PC giant Dell, are warning users not to download Microsoft's Windows 98 update. They claim the software - a mix of drivers, patches, fixes and add-ons - may not be compatible with the PC's bioses and drivers. Dell posted a warning on its Web site recommending that users "do not use the Windows 98 Update Wizard because drivers, update and system tools may not be tested by Dell or be compatible with your system." The comments come hard on the heels of OEM warnings against downloading Windows 98 for notebooks and desktops because of incompatibility with drivers and bioses.
