In brief: HP targets customer support with thin client

By Dominic Maher, 28 July 1998 15:33

NEWS Hewlett-Packard (HP) is the latest company to join the battle for the 'green screen' replacement market, with a dumb terminal priced at $699. The desktop giant says it is looking to complement the PC market, not compete with it. HP plans to target resellers that sell into the customer-support or airline reservation markets. Gateway has also been busy in the same market with the release of a convertible desktop machine. The E-3200 is based on a tool-free case that the company claims makes life easier for upgrades and repairs.
