In brief: Microsoft case faces delay

By Suzanna Kerridge, 14 September 1998 12:03

NEWS Microsoft's battle against the US Department of Justice could be postponed until the middle of October. It was originally due to start on 23 September but Judge Jackson has yet to rule on Microsoft's request for the case to be dismissed. The two parties are expected to meet on 17 September to schedule trial logistics. However, if Judge Jackson rules in Microsoft's favour, the case could be thrown out. If he rules against Microsoft, the date could still be changed to allow the software giant more time to expand its defence.
