NEWS Hewlett-Packard (HP) is to be split into two separate companies, according to chief executive, Lew Platt. He said the move will sharpen the strategic focus of HP's business. One company, as yet unnamed, will focus on the measurement business. Its CEO will be HP executive vice president, Edward Barnholt, who is currently general manager of HP's Measurement Organisation. The other firm will focus on computing and imaging. It will continue to carry the HP name and will include all HP's enterprise computing systems, software and personal computing.
