NEWS The Linux operating system could capture 10 per cent of the Chinese PC market within a year, according to Cliff Miller, chief executive of Turbo Linux in Japan. According to a Newsbytes report, Miller claimed the Chinese version of Linux has been "gobbled up". He claimed the software has gone to government departments and big companies - not just developers. Miller believes there are about 10 million PCs in mainland China, most of which run pirated Microsoft programs. Miller has been offering Linux from his Web site since January, but most Chinese users cannot afford the download time, or do not have Web access.
