By Dominic Maher, 26 May 1999 11:21

NEWS IBM has this week shipped its largest ever order for its Netfinity line of Intel-based servers in Europe. Big Blue will be providing Banca Popolare di Milano with 480 Netfinity 7000 systems for each of the Italian bank's 480 branches. The systems will be combined with the DB2 Universal Database, Lotus Notes and Tivoli network management software. IBM said the move will provide the high-street bank with a standardised platform so all future upgrades and replacements can be dealt with seamlessly.
