NEWS Compaq has withdrawn its agreement with Cabletron to resell its networking products. Instead the company has made an equity investment in Cabletron's Spectrum business. Compaq cancelled an earlier pact to resell $300m worth of Cabletron's networking equipment - under the Compaq name - every year in favour of a deal that commits the company to make a "multi-year" purchase of Spectrum products. The products will be sold through Compaq's professional services unit and used internally.
