CA and IBM to target SMEs

By Joey Gardiner, 20 October 1999 10:37

NEWS Computer Associates (CA) has announced a deal with IBM to port its applications to the S/390 server platform. The deal will see CA combining its Unicenter TNG enterprise software with IBM's Multiprise 3000 server in an effort to target the SME market. This move deepens the relationship between CA and IBM, which have been working together for 20 years; CA being the largest external supplier of software for IBM. Charles Wang, CA chairman and CEO, said that the two companies will also develop combined packages designed specifically for smaller companies. These packages will be available immediately to mutual clients of CA and IBM. Multiprise 3000 Server packages will be available for as little as $6,000 per month on a fixed rate basis.
