Linux outshines NT in Bloor study

NEWS Linux has come out a clear winner over Windows NT as the best operating systems to support applications, according to a study from Bloor Research. Linux and Windows NT were set against each other in a series of tests, including user satisfaction, OS interoperability, OS scalability, OS support, operational features and application support. The results showed Linux as superior in seven out of the nine tests. According to Bloor, the open source operating system was better for OS availability, user satisfaction, value for money, operational features, support and scalability. However, in areas of OS interoperability and OS functionality, the study found no difference between the two operating systems. Windows NT did, however, beat Linux on application availability by a significant margin. Despite Linux's success, Bloor still deemed that neither are genuinely suitable for use as an Enterprise level server.
