By Tony Hallett, 1 November 1999 16:07

NEWS Inktomi has introduced a family of network cache products aimed at the enterprise market. Its Traffic Server E-Class family is meant to help the performance of large companies' network-based services such as streaming media, content filtering, and virus detection. Enterprise users such as Bristol Myers-Squibb, Fidelity Investments and Sun Microsystems have agreed to use the technology. Sun said the Inktomi products will allow its employees to access data quickly over its network or the Internet. The Inktomi Traffic Server E5000 and E200, available for Unix or NT platforms, are priced at E24,600 (£15,700) and E7,000 (£4,500) respectively.
