NEWS Overland Data has agreed to buy the assets of bankrupt, Colorado-based Tecmar Technologies for $3m in cash. Entry-level tape storage vendor, Tecmar, will be filing for bankruptcy protection in the coming weeks, after which Overland will acquire all inventories, intellectual property and trademarks (including Tecmar, Ditto and WangDAT) as well as its Internet address. The two companies had previously announced a joint agreement to design and manufacture Travan tape drives incorporating Overland's Variable Rate Randomizer. Overland said it will continue to support existing Tecmar customers and continue the Travan development programme.
