Viglen named supplier in Sainsbury's school project

NEWS Viglen Technology is making waves within the education market as the sole IT supplier for Sainsbury's Schools 2000 scheme, even though it failed to get onto the UK government's Department of Education (DoE) preferred-supplier list last year. Sainsbury's can buy up to 2,000 PCs from Viglen at a reduced price, which will then be claimed by schools collecting "School Points" from the supermarket's outlets. Bordan Tkachuk, chief executive at Viglen UK, said the deal will help the company's efforts in getting onto the DoE's preferred supplier list, which is currently under review and will be published in March. "I would be very, very surprised if we are not on the list," he told Silicon.com. Viglen has also been selected for a £20m Government scheme offering teachers a significant discount on computer packages.
