NEWS Worldwide storage system market is expected to experience an 80 per cent increase in unit shipments up to 2003.
Analysis from research house IDC predicts the sales of all storage components will grow dramatically in the next two years - largely due to the rising demand for data storage for dot-com companies and the emergence of SANs (storage area networks).
Last month, in an exclusive interview with silicon.com, Robin Purohit, senior director of SANs and clustering at storage specialist Veritas, said that he has watched the technology become more central to business processes.
According to Purohit the market is beginning to take off. "SANs are fundamental to any businesses wanting to implement clustering," he added.
