NEWS IBM has signed a $1bn services and support deal with German engineering and chemicals group MG Technologies. Under the terms of the deal IBM will manage MG's entire IT infrastructure over a 15 year period. MG said the contract would give it significant savings in the short term, as well as allowing the company to concentrate on its core businesses. The deal follows IBM's announcement last week of a $200m European Linux initiative which will see Linux-ready IBM servers by the end of this year.
