NEWS The book is being serialised in the Guardian and the first day's launch offers such soundbites as Nobuyuki Idei, the head of Sony, saying: "Gates is a dinosaur. He wrote a book about the road ahead, but it is really the road back." Also quoted is Judge Jackson who delivered last year's landmark anti-trust ruling who referred to Gates as an "arrogant miscreant"... The Financial Times reports on Japanese mobile operator, NTT DoCoMo, who is planning a secondary share offering aimed at raising $7.73bn. The paper believes the company will become the latest in a string of telco issues expected this year when it starts marketing the 460,000 new shares tomorrow... Also in the Financial Times is news that Motorola has met Wall Street's greatly reduced estimates for fourth quarter earnings announced yesterday... Finally, news in the Independent that online bookmaker Sportingbet.com, is hoping to raise £30m from a listing on the Alternative Investment Market at the end of this month. The company, currently quoted on Ofex, says it will invest the money on acquisitions and development. Sportingbet is valued at £190m, though the Independent claims analysts fear for the timing of the move, saying it will be a gamble as tech stocks continue to suffer in uncertain times...
