Dell sheds 4,000 jobs

Up to 4,000 Dell employees are set to lose their jobs as the company takes a cautious approach to the remainder of the year.

NEWS The world's top PC maker has also significantly restricted recruitment and will be asking staff to take unpaid leave during the second quarter. Although the direct selling PC manufacturer managed to topple arch-rival Compaq from the number one spot, it is still struggling during this period of slowing growth. Dell is set to announce full first-quarter results on 17 May. The company will announce that its operating profit margin was slightly higher than anticipated.
