NEWS The data storage specialist will convert Ford's existing data storage system to a storage area network (SAN) environment through its DataPACS software. Ford will also use StorageNetworks' STORmanage service to host the car company's data on its servers, which in turn will be linked to its corporate computer networks through the internet. Tammy Basset a spokeswoman for StorageNetworks said: "We're giving Ford more control - reducing their storage complexity and costs. With IT budgets being slashed this data management really does cut costs." StorageNetworks, who is still operating in the red, saw its share price rise $15 on the deal yesterday, closing at $16.02 The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
