NEWS Sun is to block free access to its Solaris operating system from tomorrow. For the past year developers and customers have been able to download free copies of the open source system as part of the Solaris 8 foundation source programme. Sun will also close a chat site and code exchange service dedicated to the system. The company said most developers interested in Solaris had already taken advantage of the programme. Over one million copies of the software were downloaded during the year-long programme.
