NEWS Canadian telecoms equipment manufacturer Nortel saw its recently appointed chief marketing and strategy officer walk out on Friday. Anil Khatod had been appointed to the position in April and had been charged with overseeing the company's optical strategy. According to Reuters, Khatod was in line to be the most likely successor to Nortel CEO John Roth, who signaled his readiness to move on by April 2002. Nortel has suffered a slew of defections recently, as executives stock options in the company have withered away to almost nothing.
