NEWS Microsoft and US anti-trust enforcers are due back in court today to renew its strategy in preventing the company's monopoly. The Justice Department, which dropped its attempts to split the company earlier this summer, has now asked for renewed hearings to begin in February. The Justice Department has suggested Microsoft should give more freedom on competing desktop products, such as the Windows Media Player. Windows XP, the updated OS due to be launched on 25 October, will be a major focus of the court's hearings. Today's session will be chaired by the new judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, who was assigned the case after the District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson was removed for running a media circus.
