NEWS Media giant Bertelsmann is to use aspects of Napster's technology in its web portal. However, the deal does not include the controversial site's P2P technology. Napster has also said it will axe 16 jobs prior the roll-out of its legitimate subscription-based service. Last year Bertelsmann, and its music publishing arm BMG, became an unlikely ally of the troubled P2P service. The media giant now owns a small stake in Napster and has helped the company develop its subscription-based service.
