NEWS The individual states suing Microsoft for anti-competitive behaviour want more time to consider the proposed settlement. Attorney General of California Bill Lockyer encouraged the states to "take the review time we need to fully understand every word and every implication in the proposal before we decide whether to settle," according to a report in the San Jose Mercury. The states have hired high-profile lawyer Brendan Sullivan, and he is expected to ask for more time to consider the proposals. Microsoft would have to offer PC manufacturers more flexibility in controlling the appearance of the Windows desktop and some limited access to source code under the current proposals.
