NEWS IBM has made further improvements to its Shark storage hardware, just days after an IDC report found it was stealing market share from arch-rival EMC. Big Blue has doubled the machine's capacity to enable it to store 22 terabytes of data - over 24 trillion bytes. The company has also made some tweaks to the disk management options on the server. The news comes as an IDC report revealed IBM had upped its share of the storage hardware market to 11.6 per cent - still a long way behind EMC, but gaining. EMC currently holds 25.3 per cent of the market, down from 31.5 per cent last year. IBM has scored a number of high profile wins in the storage arena, including poaching the contract for the world's largest retailer WalMart from EMC in October.
