NEWS The UK IT industry will get a £24m shot in the arm from Ecommerce minister Douglas Alexander today in the form of a new scheme to link up with universities. The money is to be matched by equal investment from the private sector and will be directed toward the storage industry and the flat-panel display industry. The £24m of government money comes jointly from the Department of Trade and Industry and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. In a statement Alexander said the money would help turn bright ideas into jobs and investment.
