NEWS Apple has been awarded the music industry's highest honour - a Grammy award. The award honours Apple's contribution to studio technology, rather than Steve Jobs' karaoke prowess. The citation for the award reads: "With a Mac and the right tools, a single person could compose, perform, record, edit, and mix the instrumental portion of a song or entire album. Thus, the Macintosh became the touchstone of a new model for producing recorded music." The technical Grammys have been awarded since 1994. Robert Moog, inventor of the famous sixties synthesiser, was also honoured this year. The awards will be formally presented at the Grammy awards ceremony in February.
