Storage row erupts over patent 'publicity stunt'

Lawsuit is just posturing according to Brocade...

NEWS Greg Reyes, CEO of storage software company Brocade, has branded a patent lawsuit filed by McData a publicity trick. Reyes told US newswires: "It's nothing but a publicity stunt...The reason they're trying to litigate is because this is very important technology...They don't even support this technology they developed. If you develop it, why don't you use it?" The patent in question, one of 25 owned by McData, is for filtering and measuring frame traffic within a switch. McData has not asked Brocade to stop using the technology, but is demanding royalty payments.
