NEWS Microsoft could have its activities in the PDA market and beyond curtailed under the antitrust remedies being considered by a US judge. Lawyers representing the nine states which have refused to accept the settlement agreed with the Justice Department want a remedy that will prevent Microsoft competing unfairly in other markets such as interactive TV and PDAs. Up until now, Microsoft's behaviour in the PC market has been the focus of Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly's investigations, but she has now requested more information on new technologies, such as handheld devices and interactive television, to determine whether sanctions against Microsoft should be imposed in those areas. Representatives of Palm and set-top box software maker Liberate Technologies are expected to testify in the hearings.
