NEWS Hewlett-Packard has moved to dismiss a lawsuit filed by dissident board member Walter Hewlett. The lawsuit is Hewlett's latest attempt to put the kibosh on the merger with Compaq. The suit claims the company either bought votes from Deutsche Bank or coerced the company to vote in favour of the $23bn merger. However, HP has denied the allegations in a motion filed with a Delaware court. It also claims that allegations made by Hewlett that shareholders were misinformed about the integration of the two companies are also false. Hewlett said this week's decision by HP to vote him off the board on 26 April is a disservice to shareholders. The result of the shareholder vote is expected next week with HP already claiming victory.
