NEWS IBM and Hitachi are combining their storage divisions into one joint venture. The two companies' storage divisions have been hit by the downturn in the hard disk sector which has suffered in common with other component manufacturing. Hitachi will own 70 per cent of the merged company, according to reports. Employees are expected to move as a result of the agreement but no details have been finalised.
