NEWS Sun has made another step forward in its strategy to integrate its purchase of Linux server vendor Cobalt with the release of a high-performance server appliance. Sun said it has integrated the Linux operating system, applications, a database and key parts of the Sun One web services platform into the box that will retail at $1,699 (£1,175). Called the RaQ 550 it is designed for SMEs who want to host their own websites. Sun bought Cobalt at the end of 2000 after having spent years positioning itself as a one-operating system company around Solaris.
