NEWS IBM has developed a storage device that can store up to one trillion bits of information in an area the size of a postage stamp. The experimental prototype is part of Big Blue's ongoing Millipede research into nanotechnology devices. The storage device is a chip that contains an array of 1,000 heated spikes which can make, or read, tiny indentations in a polymer film, report US wires. The tiny indentations are fabricated on a single silicon chip using VLSI microfabrication techniques.
