NEWS The Norwegian government has cancelled its exclusive contract with Microsoft, claiming it is unsatisfied with the deal it is getting with the software giant. Victor Norman, minister of Labour and administration for Norway, said the company's exclusive contract with the company stifled competition . He told Norwegian paper Aftenposten that greater competition would mean lower costs. Under the terms of the contract, Microsoft had exclusive rights to supply software to all computers used in by Norway's public sector. The news comes as Microsoft moves to change its licensing scheme which requires large organisations to pay subscription fees for regular software upgrades instead of the old style one-off payment.
