HP cuts Dell's printer lifeline

Dell 'dismayed' by move...

By Kate Hanaghan, 24 July 2002 08:30

NEWS HP is to stop selling its printers to Dell because its biggest PC rival plans to launch its own line of the products. Dell has so far remained tight-lipped as to when and how it will enter the printer market. Lexmark has repeatedly been singled-out by analysts as a possible take-over target for the direct-selling company. A spokesman told Reuters he was surprised by HP's move and unable to understand why the company would want to make it harder for consumers to get hold of products. However, he added the company would continue to buy HP printers through distributors.
