NEWS Financial services are by far the most common source of spam email - accounting for more than a third of all unsolicited messages. Products sales and pornography are second and third with 28 per cent and 11 per cent respectively. Spam emails are all the unsolicited mails you receive - offering everything from miracle hair re-growth or a bigger penis to a low interest loan or a cheap mortgage. Users of web mail services such as Microsoft's Hotmail have been particularly inundated over the past few years by such unwanted inbox clutter. Anti-spam software firm Brightmail released the latest statistics which show the problems is getting worse at an alarming rate. Last month Brightmail recorded more than 5.25 million spam emails - this compares to a relatively meagre 1.4 million for the same month last year.
