NEWS SuSE Linux has named Richard Seibt as its new chairman and CEO, replacing Gerhard Burtscher. Seibt joins from being an executive board member at United Internet, which is also based in Germany. Outgoing Burtscher is described by the Linux distributor as a turnaround specialist. He joined the company a year ago, and initially focussed on indirect sales, its channel partners and then rationalised SuSE's product lines. During his time at the helm, SuSE became one of the cornerstones of the UnitedLinux initiative which pitches several vendors against Red Hat as the leading provider of the open source operating system.
