NEWS The European Commission has chosen a combination of Documentum and Fujitsu Consulting to handle publishing information to its popular Europa website.

The contract went through the official tender process and is worth a total of over €7m. It covers the provision of content management software for up to five years and maintenance, upgrades and services for up to seven.

The www.europa.eu.int site is published in 11 languages and is one of the most popular online destinations in the world, serving around 370 million EU citizens. The Documentum 5 software should allow for consistent updating of content.

Documentum, which is in the process of being acquired by storage giant EMC, has a number of financial sector customers including the US Army, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Inland Revenue and Republic of Korea.
