NEWS After all the excitement and speculation, one group of Apple watchers says Steve Jobs' big announcement next week will be an update to the PowerBook and Power Mac range, rather than the hoped for video iPod.
Apple news site Think Secret quotes sources as saying the new models will boast higher resolution displays and enhanced performance.
The Power Mac was last updated in April, while the PowerBook line was last overhauled in January.
Think Secret adds that an update to the iPod will be unveiled on 12 October but that update won't be video playing functionality. It's expected to be the launch of a new 80GB full-size iPod, as hinted at late last year by hard drive maker Toshiba.
According to the site, the video iPod is in development at Apple, although no launch plans are afoot due to the ongoing wrangling with movie firms over licensing.
