Oil services company Aibel has agreed to outsource its global IT infrastructure to the BT HP Alliance in a contract worth more than £30m.

The five-year deal - worth 335m Norwegian Krone (£30m) - will see BT operating as the prime contractor and delivering a standardised global Itil-based platform, the global service desk for Aibel end users, as well as a global IP converged network and messaging infrastructure.
HP will provide local desktop support and operate Aibel's data centres.
A total of 29 Aibel employees, 28 of whom are based in Norway, will transfer to BT or HP as part of the deal.
Aibel CEO Rasmus Sunda, said Aibel wants to be able to move into new territories and set up operations quickly, linking information back to its central hub in Norway. The BT HP Alliance offers the global reach, security and reliability to make that possible, he said.
