Taylor Wimpey signs £30m LogicaCMG outsourcing deal

House builder aims to slash IT costs by 20 per cent

NEWS

The UK's largest house builder Taylor Wimpey has outsourced the management of all its IT systems to LogicaCMG in a deal worth £30m.

Taylor Woodrow and George Wimpey merged to form Taylor Wimpey last year and the five-year outsourcing deal will involve the integration and management of all the merged company's IT systems.

LogicaCMG won the contract on the back of its work for George Wimpey over the last six years doing service desk, data centres, desktop services and remote infrastructure management.

The new contract aims to cut costs by 20 per cent by creating a common infrastructure across the merged Taylor Wimpey organisation and exploiting shared services.

Paul Caris, CIO of Taylor Wimpey, said in a statement: "Our challenge, following the merger, was to provide a consistent IT service across the enlarged UK business and to deliver cost efficiencies through economies of scale."

LogicaCMG will also become part of the Taylor Wimpey IT leadership team as part of the contract.
