In brief: Orange and KPN NV win Belgium mobile licence

NEWS Orange and Dutch national telco, KPN NV, have been jointly awarded Belgium's third mobile licence. There were no rival bids against the pair, who will have to pay the Belgian government 8bn Belgian francs (£130m) to become official operators. The companies have said the network - which will use the Orange branding - will be one of the most advanced GSM-based systems in the world.
