In brief: Philips sells off components division

NEWS Philips has appointed JP Morgan to find a buyer for its passive components arm. The division, which operates in Europe, has reported lean returns for the past three years and its sale is part of a company wide rationalisation. Industry pundits say the division could go for as much as £350m. The division manufactures components like transistors and resistors.
