Microsoft to cage mice

NEWS Microsoft is planning a 'cage your mouse day' to educate PC users on making best use of their keyboard. It is also designed to tackle criticism that overuse of mice can lead to repetitive strain injuries (RSI). Jamie Snowdon, analyst at Input, said: "It's a good idea, although it sounds like a marketing ploy." He added that mice are overused, and said this is one of the main contributors to RSI. "Microsoft now needs to make sure its applications are keyboard-friendly," he said. "Windows version 3 was a lot easier to work with using the mouse, compared with Windows 95." Microsoft says the scheme is a way of addressing the problems people have with RSI, with a view to developing extra keyboard features in its products.
