GlobalStar resets launch date after rocket crash

NEWS Beleaguered satellite communications company, GlobalStar, has postponed the launch of its mobile telecoms service until autumn 1999. Earlier this month, the company lost 12 satellites when the Russian rocket carrying them into orbit crashed four and a half minutes after take off. The company was hoping to go live with its space-based mobile phone service at the beginning of next year. To meet the new autumn deadline the company will step up its satellite programme with the launch of three Soyuz rockets this winter.
